SocialMedia.com partners with leading online publishers to bring the unique, vibrant voices of their communities to life through advertising.

SocialMedia.com was founded on the principle of “people-powered advertising” — we believe that more effective and trusted ads are created by transforming real messages from real people into authentic sponsored content. Most of what passes for “social advertising” today are annoying banners and text links that don’t connect to the social graph in any meaningful way.

SocialMedia.com’s vision is to create a more personal, useful, and valuable type of advertising. Since our founding in April 2007, we’ve taken the lead in deploying social advertising technologies, including the industry’s first platform that enables publishers to create and sell social ads.

Our team includes a healthy mix of experienced online advertising veterans, and idealistic social app hackers. Our office is located at Pier 38 in San Francisco and we’re always looking for interesting people to hire, partner with, and learn from so feel free to drop us an email and visit.

Our Values

Our values provide a framework for us to make decisions when faced with imperfect information. Here are a few of them:

Perfect is the enemy of the good

The world of social media is being shaped and reshaped every day. There is no perfect solution to advertising within social media. And so the key is to try things, make mistakes, learn and try something new. The “right answer” will most likely emerge from lots of little wrong answers relentlessly iterated.

Treasure The Climb

Between the moment you begin a business and the moment you exit the business lies the long grind. This is where we spend the vast majority of our time, so enjoy it. Sure, it’s nice to descend with the wind at your back, but it’s the hard work of learning to collaborate around a common goal and driving relentlessly towards that vision that we will all be left with.

Finish it yourself

Don’t wait for somebody else to finish what you can do yourself. When in doubt, get something out there. Yes, you need to listen and collaborate with colleagues to create bigger opportunities than you can on your own. Just be confident about your own abilities and take initiative wherever and whenever you can.
